EU and Multiple Countries Consider Adjusting Cross-border Parcel Tax Exemption Limits

To balance local business ecosystems, customs authorities in the EU and several other regions are planning to adjust tax exemption policies for platforms like Temu, Shein, and AliExpress.

Previously, parcels below a certain value (e.g., 150 euros in the EU) were exempt from customs duties. Once the new policy is implemented, all cross-border parcels may be subject to corresponding taxes and stricter customs clearance procedures.

Cross-border shoppers must pay closer attention to order declarations and customs fee changes, calculate costs in advance, and consider consolidated procurement to reduce per-item logistics and tax costs.
